Hello! I’m so glad you found my little corner of the internet!I write picture books that spark joy, connection, and conversation.

My name is Kaytlin (or Kayt), and I live in Kansas City with my husband and our smiley pup. When I’m not writing or supporting young communicators as a pediatric speech-language pathologist, you might find me checking out a big stack of books at the local library, convincing my husband we need to plan our next beach vacation, or saying “yes” to ice cream.
As a reader, I’m drawn to stories that tug on my heart, keep me giggling, and make me want to read again and again. I hope this is how you’ll feel when reading my stories, too!Much of my writing is influenced by my work as a pediatric therapist and my own life experiences related to disability advocacy, inclusion, and accessibility. I believe ALL children should see themselves represented in the books they read.

I have numerous completed picture book manuscripts and am currently querying agents. I’m a member of SCBWI, participate in the Written Storyteller Certificate program at the Story Center in Kansas City, and stay active in multiple critique groups. When people ask why I write for kids, I think of Madeleine L’Engle’s words: “You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.”
You can find me actively sharing about my love for children’s literature, author journey, and work as a pediatric SLP on Instagram: @kayts.communication.corner!
